Team Parallels: Romances Doomed to Fail

Disclaimer: This post is heavily opinion based. I’m just sharing my thoughts on why I don’t think NaruSaku will happen. I’m not stating anything as a fact. If you can’t see that, you’re probably an idiot.

I’m sure this has been pointed out in the past, as the parallels between Team Sarutobi, Team Minato, Team Kakashi/7, and (to a certain extent) Jiraiya and the Ame orphans are extremely obvious. Here’s my take on it.

Though they are all very different characters with their own personalities and experiences, they share a lot in common, we all know that. Going by how they were as kids, the parallel goes:

Naruto//Obito//Jiraiya//Yahiko

Sasuke//Kakashi//Orochimaru//Nagato

Sakura//Rin//Tsunade//Konan

Now let’s look at what happened to any potential romance in the teams of past generations. Jiraiya had a crush on Tsunade. That ended with Tsunade falling in love with a completely different man, and Jiraiya travelling and going on all kinds of adventures until his eventual death (at least they remained friends.) Obito had a crush on Rin (she seemed to be more interested in Kakashi.) Her young life was cut short before anything could ever happen between them. With the Ame orphans, it’s a bit different. I believe that Konan and Nagato may have always had a thing for each other (correct me if I’m wrong, it could also be friendship or a brother-sister relationship.) However, that unfortunately ended in all three orphans dying without any sort of significant romantic moments happening between any of them (at least, none that the reader/viewer could see, as far as I remember.)

To me, these teams represent the varying paths a similar set of people can take depending on their situations and defining life experiences. The past and present of the teams of past generations could possibly foreshadow Team 7’s future in many ways, including romance (or lack thereof.) My personal prediction for this team based on the parallels -and there are MANY parallels within this manga/anime- is that there will be no romance between any of them (sadly, this includes SasuSaku.) Naruto will probably grow up and get over his crush on Sakura (if he hasn’t already,) and if Sakura doesn’t end up with Sasuke, I’m sure she’ll get over him eventually and be perfectly fine, albeit with some emotional scars. ~~Plus, I think if Naruto is going to end up with anybody, it will be someone outside his team, like Hinata.~~ As far as the romantic couples we DO know, Minato was not on the same team as Kushina. Kurenai and Asuma weren’t on the same team either, at least they were never shown to have been on the same team (…were they? /doubtingmyself) EDIT: I’d also like to add the oh-so-subtle, yet heavily implied couple that is ShikaTem. They are from different teams. I believe that each team is more like a family, like brothers/sisters with little or no romantic possibility within each team.

Keep in mind, these are just my ramblings born from having no life, and anything can still happen in Naruto. It’s Kishimoto’s manga, not mine. Maybe there will be romance between them, maybe not. I’m just putting my ideas out there.

Tagged NaruHina because I’m an avid NaruHina shipper, hehe. I don’t like NaruSaku as a couple, but I don’t have any problem with people who ship different characters. Do whatchu want, just keep it classy~
